Pausing before turning to leave, I saw curtains covering the large front window move slightly, and the small face of a woman peek around to stare at me. I stopped and stared back.
“Mrs. Hammond,” I shouted through the glass and to the unknown face. “My name is Carson Reno. Can I speak with you a moment?”
“No,” she yelled from behind the glass. “Someone is watching me, and I’m…I’m afraid. Go away!”
